Contraindications and Precautions to the Exercises in the Better Back Program

DO NOT DO THE EXERCISES:

  • If you are unable to lift your arms above your head due to a structural problem of your shoulders or neck. In this case, seek medical advice before continuing.
  • If you are experiencing an episode of acute pain.
  • After taking strong pain-killers, or immediately after using ice on an injured area.

STOP DOING THE EXERCISES:

  • If you feel sudden sharp pain in the back, neck or shoulders.
  • If you feel an increase in pain immediately after doing the exercises that lasts more than 2 hours (this is not the same as muscle ache or tiredness which settles quickly). You may be trying to do too much too soon.
  • If you feel the onset or increase of pins and needles or numbness in any part of your body.
  • If you start to feel dizzy or nauseous.

DO NOT CONTINUE AN EXERCISE:

If, due to fatigue, you can no longer perform the exercise correctly or cannot comfortably maintain correct posture.

DO NOT HOLD YOUR BREATH:

During the exercises – keep breathing at a relaxed rate.

TAKE CARE:

    • If you have high blood pressure.
    • If you suffer from postural hypotension (dizziness or blackout on standing up), or faint easily.
    • If you have any other problem which causes poor balance or dizziness.
    • If you have had a stroke, or have any other condition which causes single-sided weakness or lack of co-ordination.

To His Astonishment He Felt Relief Immediately - The SAME DAY

"I made a start with the exercises and to my astonishment felt relief immediately - the SAME DAY. Bear in mind, this was after years of constant nagging pain in my lower back, right hip and right groin. None of the many treatments and practitioners of various kinds, from GPs to Chiropractors, gave the same relief as I have had from using the Better Back Program."
